STL GLD have torn open a portal to their fifth album, and it hurtles you straight to the 20th century. Sort of. Last week (October 10), the celebrated Boston hip-hop group released “80’s Babies,” the first single from their November LP, Good Music For Bad Kids.
“It felt like a classic, old hip-hop joint… but new,” frontman Moe Pope tells Vanyaland.
The song and its accompanying music video are a balancing act that prime listeners for the complexities of Good Music For Bad Kids, which juggles even more styles than usual for STL GLD. The unifying factor across the 13 tracks? Off-the-walls joy.
“It just felt right to start the record and let you know, ‘yo, we’re going to have fun on this.’ We’re gonna let people know we’re having fun,” Pope concludes.
