If you crossed Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison” with the Cardi B and Bruno Mars duet “Finesse,” it’d sound something like Shandelle’s new single “TREAT U RIGHT.” While wrapping up a dance mixtape last fall — what would become February’s release CAPSULE_002: CLUB DIOSA — the Somerville artist felt compelled to cleanse her electronica-heavy palate with grooves culled straight from the ’90s. That pivot back in time would end with this slinky cruiser, a pledge of allegiance to a budding crush — and the nostalgic magic of soul and R&B.
