Watch the blistering new trailer for ‘The Running Man’

We might not have been the world’s biggest fans of Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk, but at least we’ve got one more motion-themed Stephen King adaptation left this year: Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, which has a whole host of Hollywood talent in the cast and offers the British filmmaker behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz a chance to bring some of his hyperactive style to a near-future thriller. The film had a large presence at this year’s New York Comic-Con (and you better bet the Javits Center is the perfect setting to talk about your dystopian thriller, because it’s hard to believe that building’s not simply some set-dressing for a new 1984 adaptation) and, of course, Paramount went and dropped a brand-new trailer on us while we were out for the long weekend. You ready for some Glen Powell, nerds? We bet you are.

Peep it:

Wait, wrong Running Man. Here’s the trailer for the remake:

Here’s a full-fledged synopsis for The Running Man:

”In a near-future society, ‘The Running Man’ is the top-rated show on television — a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.”

The Running Man hits the release-schedule finish line on November 14. We’re just hoping — no, praying — that there’s a new John Parr song to go with this one, too.
