A watched phone never rings, but that’s not stopping Hyber from hovering over theirs. The Salem band channel the suspense of a relationship in limbo with their new tune and music video “Waiting For Your Call,” which arrived late last month (May 27). Hyber’s latest is a crowd pleaser for fans of both power-pop and chiptune; in addition to the rock-centric original, the single comes complete with an instrumental 8 bit b-side, a concept inspired by “an accidental chiptune effect on a pick-slide in the demo (which you can still hear at 2:15),” the band explained on Instagram. Put ’em both in a playlist, slam the repeat button, and you have a mini game of “they love me/they love me not” to play while you wait for the phone to buzz. Check out both renditions below.
