Editor’s Note: “Boston Thriving” is an ongoing series from Vanyaland highlighting and honoring the national and global success of Boston- and New England-based bands and artists.
The quality of Netflix series Love Is Blind is largely dependent on the poor judgement of its delusional cast members (do you actually watch the show with the hope of seeing people get married? What are you, sick?). But it turns out the producers of the show made some top-notch choices for Season 9, which uses tunes from New England musicians Leo The Kind and Lainey Dionne (pictured above) to soundtrack the series’ romances and messes.
Leo The Kind, a Boston-born alt-R&B artist and producer, contributes his tune “Big City Dreams” to the season’s first episode, while Providence singer-songwriter Dionne chipped in the songs “Square One” and “Senti(Mental)” for the season finale. Both artists are well acquainted with the world of sync licensing; Leo earned a placement in last year’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix, while Dionne’s tunes have been featured programs from networks like MTV, TLC, and Peacock.
“Big City Dreams” is currently unreleased, although Dionne’s two contributions — a 2024 standalone single, and a cut from her and her 2021 LP, respectively — are available to stream. Tune in below.
