Get radical with the new ‘One Battle After Another’ trailer

One Battle After Another
Warner Bros

Who’s ready for a brand-spanking-new Paul Thomas Anderson movie in just over two months from now? We are, and if you’re not, well, go back and watch Boogie Nights or The Master again. Seriously though, One Battle After Another looks like a blast and a half — wacky-ass Sean Penn shenanigans, Leo DiCaprio with heavy weaponry, Beyonce on the soundtrack — what more can you really ask for? Aside from it being September, like, right now, we mean.

Anyway, Warner Bros. is making it even harder for us to wait with this brand new trailer that they dropped on Thursday morning. Check it out and then get back to work on that time machine — we want to see this and then go back to try out some of that Silphium in Roman days.

Take a look:

Since Warner Bros. is following the PTA playbook of “Don’t even let them know the title until they’re at the box office,” there’s no synopsis for One Battle After Another yet. On the other hand, there’s a great synopsis for Thomas Pynchon’s Vineland, so read this one instead:

“‘Later than usual one summer morning in 1984 …’ On California’s fog-hung North Coast, the enchanted redwood groves of Vineland County harbor a wild assortment of sixties survivors and refugees from the ‘Nixonian Reaction,’ still struggling with the consequences of their past lives. Aging hippie freak Zoyd Wheeler is revving up for his annual act of televised insanity when news reaches that his old nemesis, sinister federal agent Brock Vond, has come storming into Vineland at the head of a heavily armed Justice Department strike force. Zoyd instantly disappears underground, but not before dispatching his teenage daughter Prairie on a dark odyssey into her secret, unspeakable past. . . .”

One Battle After Another hits theaters on September 26, which feels like a much better fit than its original August release date. We’re hyped, folks.
