Astral Bitch tend to grungy ‘Seeds of Hate’ on new single

You reap what you sow — unless Astral Bitch’s new earthquake of a tune tears it up first. Earlier this week (September 2), the Boston grunge band unleashed “Seeds of Hate,” a scorched earth single and easily the group’s most intense project to date. The new release — which comes with B-side “What Goes Around” — is Astral Bitch’s first new music since their 2024 tune “Haunting You.”

From uproarious guitar riffs to lyrics spat out like venom, every aspect of “Seeds of Hate” positively seethes, and for good reason. An Instagram post from the group describes the single as “a rallying cry for youth frustrated by institutions beholden to corruption, robbing them of a better tomorrow.”

“Optimism about the future feels in short supply these days,” songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Sam Coren elaborates. “With ‘Seeds’ we wanted to take the feelings of rage and powerlessness people were experiencing toward the government and represent that sonically. The reality is that you’re not alone and none of us can afford to let our own cynicism destroy us. We can’t give up on fighting for a better tomorrow or we simply won’t have one.”

The single release was accompanied by a special “Seeds of Hate” cocktail at Lone Star Taco Bar, a mezcal-based drink with notes of pomegranate. Think of it as a smoky-sweet complement to all of that unfettered frustration.
