May the October puns commence, starting with Psychtoberfest.
Fall’s standard Oktoberfest flavors and the fuzz of the Massachusetts rock scene come together this Saturday (October 4) at Deep Cuts’ third annual psych-rock event (not to be confused with Punktoberfest, another genre-specific fall gathering that takes place at Lowell’s Thirsty First). This year’s edition of Psychtoberfest bundles talent from across the state, recruiting Boston stoner punks Zip-Tie Handcuffs, Wareham fuzz fiends PINKLIDS (pictured above), Western Mass twister Fugue State, and the spacey, shimmering Cambridge band Daughter of the Vine.
Before that lineup fully melts your face off, make sure to stuff it with Deep Cuts’ special fall offerings: German-inspired beers like “I Turned Into a Märzen” and “Psychtoberfestbier,” plus schitzel (pork or eggplant) and fries loaded with beer brats, sauerkraut, mustard, and beer cheese. Keep in mind that food is only available until 9 p.m. — two hours after doors — so don’t delay your trip to the deli/bar side of the venue.
